At Blue Whale Systems we understand that privacy is very important. This privacy policy describes the type of information Blue Whale Systems collects through its advertising-supported mobile phone email service ('BlueWhaleMail™') and how Blue Whale Systems handles this information.

BlueWhaleMail™

In order for you to receive BlueWhaleMail™, we will provide you with software to install on you mobile phone. The software will prompt you for, and you will need to provide, details of your email service provider’s server address and your email address for each email account you wish to use with BlueWhaleMail™. Blue Whale Systems uses this information to configure the BlueWhaleMail™ client for you and may use it to send you an email to verify that the settings are correct. The BlueWhaleMail™ software will store the password for each of your designated email accounts only in your phone. The BlueWhaleMail™ software uses this information to login to your email service provider’s email server in order for you to access your email. Your email is then received into the BlueWhaleMail™ software on your mobile phone. At no time are your passwords or email sent to Blue Whale Systems.

Information collected through BlueWhaleMail™

In order for Blue Whale Systems to deliver BlueWhaleMail™ and keep it free of charge, we deliver advertising content to your phone and share aggregated usage data with our advertising partners. When you use BlueWhaleMail™ the software will send us some information about your use of the service. This information will include usage activity (such as data volume and number of emails sent/received), advert interaction (including a history of adverts viewed and adverts clicked on to obtain more information) as well as your phone type, country and network operator, mobile network cell ID and your location when using BlueWhaleMail™. In order for us to deliver BlueWhaleMail™, the BlueWhaleMail™ software allocates a unique serial number to the specific software installation on the phone. It is not possible for us to provide BlueWhaleMail™ without allocating this unique serial number to your phone. If you do not wish us to identify your phone, please do not install the BlueWhaleMail™ software. If you have installed the BlueWhaleMail™ software and wish to stop using BlueWhaleMail™, see the 'Termination' section below for instructions on how to disable the application. We may, from time to time, ask you for information such as your age or gender via a questionnaire. We will not be able to identify you from the information you supply in response to such questionnaires. It will not be possible for us to provide you with BlueWhaleMail™ if you do not respond to our questionnaires. If you do not wish to respond to our questionnaires, please do not install the BlueWhaleMail™ software.

Third parties to whom we might transfer information

We share aggregated non-personal information with our advertising partners. We do not provide our advertisers with information from which you as an individual can be identified and we do not share email addresses with our advertisers. As an example, we may provide our advertisers with information about how many Nokia N95 users use BlueWhaleMail™, or the number of times an advertiser’s advert has been seen. Blue Whale Systems may disclose information to Blue Whale Systems’ contractors and service providers for operating purposes subject to the limitations provided in this privacy policy.

Where we hold information

Blue Whale Systems maintains information on computer servers that are located in Canada and the European Union. Blue Whale Systems adheres to the principles of the data protection framework established by the European Commission. Blue Whale Systems follows generally accepted industry standard to protect personal information that it maintains or transmits, but absolute security cannot be guaranteed. In particular, Blue Whale Systems cannot accept responsibility for protecting the security of information stored on your mobile phone and handheld devices.

Termination

If you wish to stop using BlueWhaleMail™, you will need to remove the Blue Whale Systems software from your phone. We provide step by step instructions as to how to remove the software on our website at http://www.bluewhalemail.com/forum.

Updates

This privacy policy may be changed from time to time. All updates will be announced on the http://www.bluewhalemail.com website, with a specified effective date.
